Gilbert is excited to unveil the all-new First Nations AU 7s Supporter Ball.

This ball has been created with artwork from Tyler Smith and Elle Binge, currently used as part of the unique First Nations jersey designs for the Australian Sevens teams.

Proud Gomeroi Man Tyler Smith’s ‘Kina Korien’ design features on two of the panels, with this artwork having been used on the Men’s jersey, translating to ‘no fear’ in Awabakal language.

Renowned First Nations artist Elle Binge Harrison created a women’s design which is on two panels of the Gilbert First Nations AU 7s Supporter Ball, aiming to reflect ‘the value of the sisterhood’. This is the design of the seven sisters that has been used on the women’s jersey.

The First Nations AU 7s Supporter Ball is officially licensed and fully endorsed by Rugby Australia.

From the artists:

Tyler Smith

“This design is inspired by the traditional Aboriginal practice of body art/paining. This design allows us to share this tradition with all Australians and allows everyone to be connected no matter what our background. We are very proud of our Aboriginal culture and we want all Australians to be proud of it too.”

Elle Binge Harrison

“This design depicts the strong and powerful connection of Family ties. This story is as old as our Culture and written in the stars, a story of the empowerment of Women, showing the value of love and the bond between sisters, the connections to Mother Earth, the Spirits, through Culture, through our Aboriginal Identity and a Dreamtime story that has been passed down from Generation to Generations.”
